Job Summary





The Benton County Records & Elections Department is seeking a Senior Deputy Clerk to join the team! This is a great opportunity to work in a modern office setting on the second floor of the newly remodeled Benton County Kalapuya Building which features ample free parking, next to paved trails that connect with surrounding natural areas and parks.

JOB SUMMARY
Performs highly responsible clerical activities in the Records and Elections Department. Work as in-house expert in a specific area, such as the Board of Property Tax Appeals, Records Center, Domestic Partner Registry, Marriage Licenses, Dog Licenses, Voter Registration, reviewing U.S. Passport Applications, department meeting minutes, voter and election assistance, as well as, other department functions.

  • Upon successful completion of probationary period, the successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to transition to a 9/80 work schedule, as scheduled and approved by the Department Director.

  • Annual salary range of:
    • $49,287 to $66,731
    • This position is eligible for up to two salary raises within your first year . An Increase may be given at the end of the 6-month probationary period, depending on starting salary, and at the 1-year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Annual performance-based increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.
    • Note : salary placement will be based on your level of directly related experience and education consistent with Oregon's pay equity law.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS22)
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

  • 1 year of school or technical training beyond high school ; and
  • 4 years of experience in the field of real property records or assessment, title business and archive processes, voter registration, ballot processing, passport acceptance or a closely related field.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least six months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements:
  • Must obtain Oregon Notary Public commission within 3 months of hire.
  • Must have or must obtain Oregon Driver’s License.
  • Successfully complete ballot return signature verification training.
  • Obtain certification to assist in processing U.S. Passport Applications.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with or within local government.
  • Experience or knowledge of functions and services provided in Records and Elections department.
  • Has knowledge of the operation of office machinery, computers and software such as Microsoft Office products, Assessment, Recording and Records Management Systems.
  • Has Data Entry experience, adherence to statutes and regulatory guidelines.
