Location: Portland, Oregon 

Hybrid Role On-Site 3 days

The Senior Staff Accountant will support the Controller in all tasks leading to monthly and annual closing. This individual will work closely with our Project Management team to forecast invoicing/cash flow and review project profitability. The main task for the first three months will be completing systems integration to Gravity and closing prior months, to ensure systems data is accurate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General accounting tasks including inputting data into the general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, and review of billing / payable data.
  • Support the controller with a system migration.
  • Financial modeling for new business opportunities and providing variances in project revenue and expenses.
  • Prepare financial reports including budget versus actuals and variances.
  • Analysis and review of company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to the various projects, and departments, and reporting to the various departments as necessary.
  • Analysis of project actuals and estimates, recording details into databases, and meeting with project managers to understand variances.
  • Month-end close responsibilities, including Profit & Loss analysis, accrued expenses, accounts payable, and various other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reviewing invoices and revenue to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Review budgets to actuals and make notes of variances.
  • Seeking ways to improve accounting processes and procedures both nationally and internationally.
  • Assisting with and handling special projects as needed.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3 – 4 years or more experience as a staff accountant.
  • Must have experience with financial modeling and project accounting experience.
  • Experience assisting with annual external audits.
  • Experience with local and state tax filings.
  • Experience with accounting in multiple currencies.
  • Experience with advanced accounting systems (I.E., Mineral Tree, Gravity, Quickbooks, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-starter, quick learner, and ability to multi-task on a regular basis.
  • Experience in a role that requires substantial multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a deadline driven environment.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
