- Oil
- Masoor - whole brown masoor dal
- Whole jeera
- Bay leaves
- Green chillies
- One whole red chilli
- Curry leaves
- Spring onion bulbs
- Ginger garlic paste
- Whole garlic cloves
- Hing
- Tomato puree
- Dhania jeera
- Dhansak
- Haldi
- Red chilli powder
- Garam masala
- Salt
- Lemon juice
- Sugar
- Chicken stock powder (optional)
Method
In a pressure cooker take some oil, put jeera, bay leaves, whole red chilli, hing, green chillies and curry leaves.
Add spring onions and salt, saute well. Add ginger garlic paste and cook.
Add whole garlic cloves and tomato puree.
Add turmeric, dhania-jeera, red chilli powder, Dhansak masala, garam masala, chicken stock powder.
Cook until mixed well together.
Add the soaked masoor and pressure cook. (1 whistle on high and then 20 mins on medium low).
Once done add some lemon juice and a little sugar.
Serve with sliced onions with a dash of lime.
Note: Alternatively, you can use 1 cup whole brown masoor and 1/4 cup orange masoor dal.
