Gavathi Chicken Curry
Desi chicken ( not broiler ) . Also called gavathi/ gaoran chicken... Spicy ( zanzanit )Ingredients
- Ingredients :
- Chicken 1kg. Mediam pieces
- Step A whole spices. ..
- Bay leaves 2
- Green cardamom 3
- Cinnamon 1 "
- Cloves 4
- Mace 1.
- Step B Green paste
- Garlic pods 8-10
- Ginger 2" piece
- Coriander leaves, small bunch. Chopped. In grinder add these ingredients & little water, grind to a fine paste.
- Step C... paste2
- Onion 1 big Sliced. Fry in a pan in 1 tsp oil.
- Dry grated coconut
- handful. Roast till light brown in a pan.
- Ghati masala 5 tbsp.
- Mix all these ingredients & add to grinder , make a fine paste.
- Other ingredients :
- Oil 4 tbsp.
- Kashmiri red chilli powder 2 tbsp.
- Turmeric powder
- Garam masala powder 1 tsp.
- Salt to taste.
Method
Method:
1.Wash chicken pieces under running water. Pat them dry.
2. Heat oil in a vessel add step A ingredients ( whole spices ), when it splutters add Onion fry till light brown. Add 1 tbsp green paste ( step B ) , saute for a minute.
3. Add chicken pieces & roast for 7-8 mnts. Add salt to taste. Cover the vessel with 1& half inch deep steel plate. Pour 1 glass of water in the steel plate. After 10 mnts pour the hot water from the steel plate to the chicken.
Repeat this procedure twice.
4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add step C paste & fry till oil leaves masala.
5. Add remaining green paste & fried red paste to the chicken. Mix well. Cover & cook for 7-8 minutes.
Serve hot with bhakri & rice.
