Gavathi Chicken Curry

Ingredients

  • Ingredients :
  • Chicken 1kg. Mediam pieces
  • Step A whole spices. ..
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Green cardamom 3
  • Cinnamon 1 "
  • Cloves 4
  • Mace 1.
  • Step B Green paste
  • Garlic pods 8-10
  • Ginger 2" piece
  • Coriander leaves, small bunch. Chopped. In grinder add these ingredients & little water, grind to a fine paste.
  • Step C... paste2
  • Onion 1 big Sliced. Fry in a pan in 1 tsp oil.
  • Dry grated coconut
  • handful. Roast till light brown in a pan.
  • Ghati masala 5 tbsp.
  • Mix all these ingredients & add to grinder , make a fine paste.
  • Other ingredients :
  • Oil 4 tbsp.
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 2 tbsp.
  • Turmeric powder
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp.
  • Salt to taste.

Method

    Method:
    1.Wash chicken pieces under running water. Pat them dry.
    2. Heat oil in a vessel add step A ingredients ( whole spices ), when it splutters add Onion fry till light brown. Add 1 tbsp green paste ( step B ) , saute for a minute.
    3. Add chicken pieces & roast for 7-8 mnts. Add salt to taste. Cover the vessel with 1& half inch deep steel plate. Pour 1 glass of water in the steel plate. After 10 mnts pour the hot water from the steel plate to the chicken.
    Repeat this procedure twice.
    4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add step C paste & fry till oil leaves masala.
    5. Add remaining green paste & fried red paste to the chicken. Mix well. Cover & cook for 7-8 minutes.
    Serve hot with bhakri & rice.
