Ingredients
- Prawns 18-20, de-vein, wash under running water & pat dry them.
- Oil 3 tbsp
- Turmeric powder quarter tsp.
- Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
- Lime juice 1 tsp
- Kokum 4 petals, soke in little water for 10 mnts.
- Fresh coriander leaves , chopped 3 tbsp
- Kashmiri red chilly powder, 2 tsp.
- Coriander powder 1 tbsp
- Onion 1 medium chopped
- Salt to taste.
- Garam masala ( spices ) powder 1 tsp.
- For paste :
- Onion 1 big, sliced. Fry till golden brown in 1 tsp. Oil.
- Coconut dry, grated handful. Roast till golden brown.
- Ghati masala 4 tbsp.
- Combine these ingredients & garind to a fine paste adding little water.
- For tempering :
- Garlic pods 5, chopped.
- Mustard seeds 1 tsp.
- Curry leaves 10-12.
Method
A. In a bowl add prawns, little salt, turmeric powder & lime juice. Mix well. Keep aside for 20 mins.
B. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan add marinated prawns & fry till pink colour. Remove the fried prawns & keep aside in a separate bowl.
C. Heat remaining oil in the same pan add chopped onion, fry till golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste & saute for a min. Add Kashmiri red chilli powder & coriander powder & saute for 2 mins.
Add ground paste, fry till oil leaves masala.
D. Add prawns, mix well. Add 2 cups of water & soaked kokum. Boil, cover & cook for 8-10 mins on low heat or till done. Remove the cover add garam masala & chopped coriander leaves. Mix well. Remove from heat.
E. In a separate bowl heat, 1 tbsp oil add mustard seeds, after crackling add chopped garlic cook till brown add curry leaves & pour this mixture in prawns.
Serve hot.
