It is 16/07/2020 and lockdown due to COVID 19 still on. We were bored of the regular food so my sister made it for lunch. For vegetarians you can use potatoes or paneer or vegetables.

  • Ingredients
  • Chicken leg and breast pieces
  • 60 gms or 1/4 cup oil (or ghee)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 125 gm or 1/2 cup grated onion
  • 125 gm or 1/2 cup grated tomato
  • Half of 1/4 red chilly powder (add more if you like spicy)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • Half of 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • Ingredients to add after chicken is cooked (optional)
  • 60 gms or 1/4 cup white butter
  • 50 gms fresh cream
  • For Garnish (optional)
  • Small bunch chopped coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon Shredded ginger
  • 1 small tomato finely sliced

Method

    In a non stick frying pan on a medium flame setting heat oil and saute cumin and chopped onion until brown.
    Add chopped tomatoes and cook till fat separates.
    Add the cumin powder, red chilly powder, garam masala, and fenugreek seeds.
    Add in the chicken pieces and mix well.
    Turn the gas down to the lowest flame setting and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
    After all the ingredients are mixed well with the chicken and the chicken is cooked, turn off the gas.
    Pour the white butter and cream over the top (optional my sister hasn't added).
    Garnish with shredded ginger, chopped coriander and chopped tomato (optional my sister hasn't added).
    Serve hot with rotis or plain white steamed rice.
